The GenTac takes its name from gentleman’s tactical – the evolution of a design to incorporate the functionality of a ‘hard-use’ tool while retaining the soul of a gent’s knife. Winner of multiple industry awards, this piece defines a near perfect synthesis of the old and the new. The Gentac’s frame is made from aerospace grade titanium, or crafted from state-of-the-art metal alloys and used as a canvas for the stunning work of Koftgari artisans, sterling silver carvers, and some of the most admired hand-engravers in the world. The frame is inlaid with carbon fiber or with one of the rare and precious materials that are the hallmark of William Henry’s work, including fossil coral, Woolly Mammoth tooth, dinosaur bone, ivory, mother of pearl, and exotic woods. The GenTac offers a great look into our artistry in damascus steel blades. Our patent pending Wave Damascus is crafted from 44 layers of two specialized alloys of steel around a core layer of ZDP-189, a powder metal die steel that yields the sharpest cutting edge the industry has ever seen. Dot Matrix damascus, a hand-forged steel that really demonstrates the range of what’s possible when a master-smith starts to work with disparate alloys and patterning techniques. Typhoon damascus, also hand-forged from two different alloys, in a completely different look from the Dot Matrix. Both these steels are made in the same shop here in the USA! For both pattern and color, our patent pending Copper Wave features 45 layers of four distinct alloys that are forged into a seamless billet, patterned, ground, and processed into a blade that is as captivating as it is sharp. Finally, Hornet’s Nest damascus, hand-forged and patterned by a master-smith for William Henry. This complex tapestry in steel features more than 600 layers per inch of three separate alloys, woven together into a blade with resounding beauty and a very hard cutting edge. This steel, like all of the hand-forged steel blades, is very time intensive to produce. No two pieces are ever alike, no pattern can ever be exactly duplicated, and each blade is an etched window into the art of Knifemaking. Each knife in the GenTac Collection includes either a titanium pocket clip or a lanyard system – the lanyard system also includes a leather ClipCase carrying system. Every piece is engraved with two distinct numbers – a serial number on the blade and limited edition number on the leading edge of the handle. The numbers, along with the details about the knife’s construction, are listed in the included Certificate of Authenticity.
